Campus For All is a four-year Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSE) experience for adults with an intellectual disability. This initiative provides opportunities for individuals to audit classes, improve literacy and establish social connections with fellow students. Campus For All students attend classes, participate in campus activities, make friends, prepare for the work world, and enjoy the same opportunities as their post-secondary peers.
Based on suitability, the top-ranked applicant(s) will be interviewed.
Offer of Admission OR Conditional Admission: The selected applicant will receive an offer of admission package by mail OR an Offer of Conditional Admission by mail.
If you receive an Offer of Admission, the package will clearly state that the Offer of Admission must be confirmed/accepted by the student.
If you receive an offer of Conditional Admission, you must confirm/accept the offer based on your ability to meet the specified conditions. An Offer of Conditional Admission is based on whether the individual or family can obtain required supports (that are not offered within CFA). Some examples of supports are home care, or one-to-one personal support, etc.
Accepting the offer: The individual must accept the offer by the deadline indicated or the admission may be revoked. The offer package includes the confirmation form and instructions on accepting the offer.
Meet with our staff: Once an individual has confirmed the Offer of Admission s/he will be contacted by the CFA office to arrange for a meeting to discuss next steps.
If You Are Not Admitted
Those not admitted will receive a telephone call from the CFA Coordinator as well as a letter with a list of recommendation that they may follow-up on, should they wish to re-apply at a later date.
Why Get Involved?
Campus For All is a fully inclusive post-secondary education (IPSE) service initiative for adults who have an intellectual disability. There are no separate classes or curricula for Campus For All students. The goal is to provide an authentic university experience.
Campus For All is a great place for students to:
Explore their interests
Improve academic skills
Meet new people
Prepare for a job
Become more independent
What is the role of CFA Staff? The role of Campus For All staff is to support everyone involved with this unique service initiative. They do this by:
facilitating students’ relationship with instructors, peers and tutors
modifying and adapting course material, including exams and assignments
addressing concerns of students, tutors, instructors, or family
What kind of support is available? Just like many other university students, students in Campus For All rely on the support of others – staff, classmates, tutors, study buddies and study groups to enhance their academic success.
Campus For All staff recruit individuals to fill the following roles:
Provide a familiar face in class
Introduce student to classmates
Invite to study group
Facilitate learning by working on readings and assignments
Meet formally once or twice a week with CFA student
Go to the gym, the Owl, etc.
Eat lunch or go for coffee
Attend campus events
While there is lots of interaction with other students, students in Campus For All are not always accompanied by someone else. They have to be able to find their own way around campus, and to keep busy or find things to do before and after class and between various activities.
