“Read All About It” with Chapters and Best Buddies
What a perfect way to start the month of March …
Yesterday I spent my afternoon at the annual “Read All About It” event that is put on by Chapters/Indigo and Best Buddies. Best Buddies Canada have partnered with Chapters/Indigo locations across the country to create an event that celebrates friendship and inclusion. This was the 5th year that the event has been held. Throughout the afternoon there were readings by buddy pairs, special guests, and live performances.
Regina’s “Read All About It” event featured a special award of recognition presented by the honourable Ralph Goodale to the University of Regina and the LeBoldus High School Best Buddies chapters for their continued work in the community:
Mayor Michael Fougere also joined the event and shared a few words about friendship on behalf of the city of Regina:
Danielle de Graauw from CTV Morning Show was also present as one of our special guests and shared a very personal and heartfelt insight into why friendship is so important:
A Buddy pair from Regina take to the podium to read one of their favourite poems about friendship:
One of our Buddies and a co-facilitator of the Wednesday night Next Chapter Book Club shares a reading on the importance of friendship as our special guests listen intently:
Once the formal part of the event concluded, everyone was invited to have snacks, visit, and roam the bookstore to shop. Even better, buddy pairs who registered for the event were given gift cards to Chapters and searched for a book to share together.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the event and we look forward to seeing you next year! Remember: March is Best Buddies month so if you have a great story about friendship or a fond memory from your time with the Best Buddies program please feel free to contact us or leave comments below!
